What a fiasco!

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Let me just tell you about my day yesterday. I just started a new semester at school, and the disk that came with my textbook (which cost $100) was defective. Well, that's just GREAT! I have to exchange my book. So, thinking that the bookstore schedule on the internet is correct and they close at 6:00pm, I took my lunch break from work to drive all the way to the school. I get to the bookstore, book and receipt in hand, and the freakin' line is almost 40 kids long! I knew I couldn't even wait for a line of 10 people and make it back to work, so I just left. That was pretty much a whole hour wasted. I left work at 5:00, drove straight back to the school, got in line, which I was about the fourth person in line. This was going to be awesome. In and out! Then, out of nowhere, the power goes out. They throw all of us out of the bookstore. About 25-30 people and I were standing outside the bookstore in confusion. So, I'm just standing there, right next to the door, because I was not going to lose my good place in line. About 15 minutes go by, and the security guys come by and tell us that there is about a whole block without power and that it was going to take a long time for the electric company to fix it, but that the bookstore closes at 8:00pm (not 6:00pm like the internet said.) Just about everyone leaves. But, not me!! I decided to stick it out. There was no way I was leaving now! About 45 minutes go by. It's muggy and warm outside. So, getting kinda sticky, I just endured. Then, the lights come back on in the bookstore. I stand up and gather my things and get back to the door. One of the staff comes to the door, unlocks it, sticks her head out and says that it's going to take 45 minutes to 1 hour for their systems to come back up. You have got to be kidding me!! I looked at this one other person standing there with me, and said, "There is no way I'm going anywhere!" So, 25 minutes later, they unlock the door and tell us to come in. You cannot imagine how great that cool air felt in there. I exchanged my book, went home, ate supper, installed my software with no issues, and finally could take a deep breath. Whew! If that disk hadn't worked, I was going to scream. Now, I just have to learn how to use that damn software.

Sappy Movies

Monday, August 25, 2008

Ok....you know how I was talking a couple of posts ago about how I really would rather not see those sappy chick flicks? Well, I caved and watched one this weekend that my best friend was just dying to see. And then it happened! Exactly the reason I don't watch those things. Not even 10 minutes into the movie, I was sobbing uncontrollably. I can't stand when that happens. I even walked out of the room to compose myself, but that didn't help one bit. I finally pulled myself together, made it through about 30 minutes of the movie without a tear, then here it comes again. Teary and snotty through the rest of the movie. I knew there was a reason that I fought so hard not to have to watch this one the first, second, third, fourth, etc. time that my friend brought it up in our many trips to Blockbuster. So, for all of you who just love to cry and have a runny nose for a couple of hours, then have puffy eyes and a sinus headache the next day, this movie is for you. It's called P.S. I Love You, starring Hillary Swank and Gerard Butler. Grab a kleenex.....or five!

Blue

Thursday, August 21, 2008

I really like trying new restaurants. So last night, I went to Blue, in the Vista. http://www.bluecolumbia.net/ They serve tapas there and have an ice bar. Well, Wednesday nights are 80's night. There is a DJ playing this great music from the 80's and all house liquor drinks are only 80¢. The waitresses dress up in 80's garb too. It was a really fun time.

New to blogging!

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Let's get this blog party started. This will include info about my favorite things. I love cats, so if I find something really cool to share, I will post it. I also really love music. I keep up with the current trends, if you will. I mostly like to look for good music that no one's heard of yet. I like watching movies too. My movie tastes are constantly changing, but never will they include chick flicks. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the occasional girly movie, but if I had to choose between one of them, and some kinda action or suspense movie, I will definitely not choose the sappy one.

I'm also crafty! Not in a bad way though. I like to crochet. I really wanna get into other types of needlework, like knitting, but the coordination that knitting requires, I seem to be lacking. Anywho....things I love crocheting the most are little animals and other things that I can turn into lapel pins and magnets, and of course, afghans for babies.

So, that's a little bit about me and what I will be writing about. Who knows what might end up on this crazy random blog? It's gonna be great! Yippee!!
